File Structure difference and other questions

Hello everyone,

I am a new user who is trying to get my hands on Linux OS in general. I want to know the file system for this OS. To be more specific :slight_smile: :

  • File structure - basic hierarchy (Any difference from other OSs)
  • How is it different from other OS in terms of learning,compatibility etc. (mint, unbuntu or Fedora etc.)
  • Why was this OS created in first place ? (There has to be a reason to create another OS, may be some small features which others dont have !!! etc.)

I am learning about the OS from reference books which mostly refer to OSs like Ubuntu,Fedora etc. I am mostly into networking and that is what i will be using it for.
Any documentation/Reference for these topics specific to this OS if available will be greatly appreciated.
