Release | Endless OS 6.0.8

Endless OS 6.0.8 has been released. Images are following up. It includes:

Google Chrome Browser Migration

The Endless OS maintained Google Chrome flatpak is winding down. Please use Flathub Google Chrome, instead.

If your system is installed with Google Chrome, please check the output of command flatpak info -o com.google.Chrome:

  • eos-apps: Endless OS maintained Google Chrome
  • flathub: Flathub Google Chrome

If the system is installed with Endless OS maintained Google Chrome, the system will migrate it to Flathub Google Chrome with the systemd service eos-migrate-chrome.service automatically when the system’s internet is available. Or, you can (un)install the Google Chrome from App Center / Software manually, of course.

Another improvement: If there are desktop launchers which execute
eos-google-chrome, like web app, the migration will modify them to
execute Chrome flatpak directly. Because, eos-google-chrome only
executes Endless OS maintained Google Chrome. And, eos-google-chrome
will be discontinued on EOS 7. => If you have installed web apps as desktop launchers, and they do not work following this upgrade, try logging out and in again.

New Pay as You Go Dialog (only relating to PAYG laptops)

Improve the UI of computers with enabled Pay as You Go (PAYG) feature. Current PAYG’s “Enter Unlock Code” credit input dialog in the notification closes too quickly to input the whole unlock code if the cursor does not hover over the notification. Introduce the new PAYG Add Credit Dialog to avoid the cursor hovering issue.
