So, i installed eos on a pc, then, it said i should restart the pc to enjoy the os, with the “shut down” prompt. I shut the pc down, then took out the cords and moved the pc to another outlet in the house. After that, once i opened the pc, i was greeted by a console saying that im in “emergency mode” something something. Any idea on how to fix? I honestly think that it happened because i didnt restart the pc after i was told so
That’s a little strange. However, if it’s a brand new installation that fails to boot, perhaps the easiest thing to do now is attempt the installation again.
Well, i did reinstall it and after the reboot i got another error saying something along the lines of “error failed reading sector 0xdd2200 from hd0”. I have no idea what it meant, so i just put the usb stick with eos back in and it boots just fine if you do it from the usb. I do really want to actually have eos installed tho, so i will be waiting for your response
That’s also a weird error.
I wonder if there is a hardware problem with the hard disk in this computer.
Sometimes, such problems can be detected with the Disks app. You can boot from Endless USB, open Disks, and click on your hard disk on the left. Then in the top right, there is a button with 3 dots to open a menu. On that menu, click “SMART Data & Self-Tests” and explore around in that section.
After trying to install ubuntu, and failing to do so, i got the diagnosis: the hard disk was screwed. That was why it didnt boot up on the os it had. I tried swaping it out, but it didnt have the same connectors. At least i got to take the pc apart and salvage good parts from it. Thank you Daniel for helping me.
