Hey guys,
So I was goofing around and I did a complete install of Endless OS (3.4.0 (180514-203106)) on my laptop which is Asus E200ha. I very much would like to go back to Ubuntu but in Bios I can’t get a USB boot option. There are only two options available 1. EndlessOS 2. Android-IA.
Secure boot is disabled.
Hopefully there is someone out there who has a solution for this.
I have the same issue. I am also running EndlessOS on a ASUS Vivobook (E403 SA). Since installaiton, I cannot boot from USB. Not sure what the problem is, exactly, but the option to boot from USB isn’t even there anymore when booting into BIOS.
Apparently, this has something to do with the Endless install enabling ‘Fastboot’ There may be a way to add a boot pathway directly in the BIOS, but I didn’t want to mess around with that, as I don’t have the know how.
I did find this, and it may work for you, although is still involves booting into BIOS. So far, it hasn’t worked for me, but you have a different model of ASUS,… maybe you will be lucky. On the bright side, none of the listed steps bricked my computer.
(The source is here https://superuser.com/questions/507111/if-usb-is-not-listed-in-bios-as-a-boot-option-does-that-mean-the-machine-cant)
The steps listed on that site, that I copy and pasted, are as follows:
Plug in your USB drive
Turn the Zenbook on
Enter UEFI (BIOS) through pressing ESC or F2
In ‘Boot’ tab: ‘Disable Fastboot’ ()
Press F10 to save & exit
Immediately press ESC or F2 again
In ‘Boot’ tab: your USB drive should be listed - change the order
Press F10 to save & exit
Your Zenbook should now boot from the USB drive
profit
() = and ‘Enable CSM’ if you want to boot in legacy mode
If that does not help, you might need a more recent firmware version.
