Anyone notice that when you click on “Updates” tab on the Software Store, and then click the refresh icon on the left, it takes eons on “Loading Updates”?
I’ve tried on three different machines, and same behavior. So it’s not machine dependent. I’m on EOS 6.0.7 but 6.0.6 did the same thing.
Any fix for this? The same App Store on other distros, for example on Bluefin or SilverBlue, is extremely fast.
In my case I have auto updates turned on and so never bother to do a manual check for updates. Being Debian based system updates are fewer than one would see on a Fedora based distro like SilverBlue. Also Fedora’s repositories are all hosted by their parent company RedHad, so they have have more control over the repositories for the updates and I am not sure Endless has the same resources under their direct control.
I have used the same set of applications for years, and updates more often than not mess with the features I use and interfere with my workflow, I am mostly content when the powers that be just leave well enough alone.
Yes, me too. But the problem is that even just searching and installing a flatpak app in the store, it takes forever. Something is wrong with the App Store implementation on Endless OS. And as for Fedora based, I’m actually testing Bluefin GTS, which is a LTS release, so there are not many updates either. But the App Store is lightning fast compared to the one on Endless.
And still, slow as molasses after it opens again. I’ve moved on to Bluefin. Everything works out-of-the-box. I’ll revise Endless OS in a year or so. GNOME version on endless is just too outdated and many extensions don’t even work. The concept is excellent, but the implementation is not. I’ll be back in several months to try gain.
