Built-in Mic Not Working

Hello, 6.0.7 user here. After the last update I tried to record some audio using the built-in mic of my Asus X540 - but no luck. When using the mic from a headset I have no issues other than some weird pop at the start of the recording but this can be a headset thing.
I tried toying with pavucontrol but still did not manage to get any input from the built-in mic - the system detects it but it behaves as it is disabled somehow.

Hello? This forum used to be pretty active in the EOS 3 days, but now it is a ghost town. Should we be worried about Endless’s future?

Have no idea about, yet. But, some laptops will show multiple built-in mics. And, only one of it works, and have to choose the one in Sound settings. Here is an example:
