Can't update os after rollback

Ok. So i saw this thread that teaches how to update to 3.8.1

I followed this instructions

and now i tried the last code - it didn’t work tho

And now my laptop is running all sort of code-ish lines on a blackscreen that i can’t make heads or tails with. what’s going on?? please help - i’m extremely not knowledgeable with things like this. thank you ^^

Most likely you are dealing with filesystem corruption and this has caused any oddities you have seen, such as the error messages on black screen, and the difficulty updating the OS.

You will need to boot from other media so that your Endless filesystem is unused, at which point you can run the repair process. You could boot from an Endless USB and then do this inside the Disks app as detailed here:

This has mostly likely happened because of some filesystem corruption, where the recovery process includes some risk (usually just a small one) of data loss. Just to cover the worse case scenario, I would recommend that you obtain a bootable Endless USB disk (or other Linux) and use it to boot and save any important documents that are accessible there. After that, you can perform the recovery operation, and you have two options: Using a bootable live Endless USB disk, open the Disks app. Fin…

The Disks app may also offer you the ability to check the health of your hard disk, might be worth doing that too, and keep in mind that issues like these may be the side effect of a hard disk that is heading towards the end of it’s useful life. Keep good backups!
