I’m interested in the source of the Encyclopedia provided with Endless OS, and if it is available for install on other linux distributions. I looked at https://github.com/endlessm but didn’t see anything that was an obvious match.

As far as i know, the Encyclopedia application is proprietary and the source code is not available.
But, the content used by the application is based on a offline copy of Wikipedia, so to get a similar solution, you can install Kiwix, which is available for almost every platform and download the content of your choice - they have updated offline copies of every Wikipedia language.

They also have a Raspberry Pi Package for providing offline Wikipedia copies to a local Network.
