Hi,
Endless is developing EOS 7 based on GNOME OS now. EOS master branch will become unstable, even not usable in the near future (and very soon). Well, EOS master branch is designed for bumping tests Only some Endless engineers use EOS master branch, I guess. After release EOS 7 formally, most users can upgrade to it, except some old system / hardware limitations.
If your Endless OS is on master branch, we welcome you join the bumping EOS 7 test. However, if you prefer a more stable EOS during this transition time, you can switch back to EOS 6 branch.
You can execute command “ostree admin status” to understand your system is on which branch. If it shows using:
eos:os/eos/amd64/master
, then the system is on EOS master branch.eos:os/eos/amd64/latest3
, then the system is on EOS 6 branch.
If the system is on EOS master branch and you want to switch it to EOS 6 branch, you can execute command pkexec ostree admin switch os/eos/amd64/latest3
. After it finishes switching, please reboot the system. Then, you can check with command ostree admin status
again. It should show using eos:os/eos/amd64/latest3
.
Or, you can stop the OSTree update automatically simply.
