Gnome is too heavy

Gnome is an ok desktop envoiroment. The proposal for Endless Os is to run in older hardware. Is just too heavy for that. Why not use LXQT?
Many thanks!

The difference between LXQt and GNOME in terms of memory usage boils down to about 100-150 MiB average. If you assume that hardware from the last years - say starting from 2010 - has at least 4 GiB of main memory, it’s simply not worth the hassle to change a well matured desktop environment with a lot of customized extensions to something wholly new IMHO.
