Hi. I have a problem in endless os. I use dual boot with windows 10 pro on 64 bit built. The problem is when i plug in my headphones they are not detected, and the sound comes through the speakers. In windows everything works great. Thank you for your time
Hi there!
Just a quick question, are you running on a machine that uses a Cherry Trail (Atom x5) processor?
If so, these can be problematic under Linux as the firmware and hardware is often not detected fully.
Windows does have the appropriate firmware and drivers installed and hence can detect the ‘switching’ between speakers and headphones when the jack is plugged in. This is the bit that pretty much all Linux distros struggle with and often requires manual switching.
If you click on Settings > Sound > Output you should see the options for Speakers and Headphones - this is where you can manually make the switch.
Until the Linux kernel includes the firmware for the Cherry / Bay Trail processors then this is as good as it gets, I believe.
It is unlikely to happen though (especially with Cherry Trail) as Intel have pretty much abandoned this CPU line.
Good Luck!
