Help update Endless OS 3.1.0 to version 3.1.1 or install “(Nightly) deconf-editor”
Hello.
I am well versed in operating systems - Linux Mint, Ubuntu and derivatives.
Endless OS (this is for me a new system).
But I really liked its characteristics and work rate!
The installation image version: Basic (1.7 GB) Multilanguage Full. But here is the crux of the matter: Established Endless OS, installed some repository (all information, links to repositories took on site). As a result, after the restart I got Endless OS version 3.1.1 !!! In this version 3.1.1 in “App Center” appeared very much need a program called - “(Nightly) deconf-editor” - with this program very easy to configure the system interface, fonts and more …
But in Endless OS version 3.1.0 in the “App Center” program “(Nightly) deconf-editor” no !!! BUT I really NEED !!! Please help me, tell me how can I update my Endless OS version 3.1.0 - up version: 3.1.1?
Or there is another possibility (installation repository for system updates)? Or maybe there is a way to install the program is very necessary to me - “(Nightly) deconf-editor” in my OS version: 3.1.0?
Now I set the Endless OS on the second computer, but to upgrade to versions: 3.1.1 there is no way not in “App Center” not inthe Settings => Details => “Check for updates now”, and not after the “reset”
“(Nightly) deconf-editor” - configuration of the low level of the system. With dconf in GNOME and Unity settings are preserved in most programs.
Keys in an unstructured database (switches are logically connected to each other categories). The database is stored in a binary file, which is located in ~ / .config / dconf.
We don’t have dconf editor available on endless os currently - although it’s something on my backlog. Do you know what specific settings you’re looking to change? That would be very interesting to me. Generally, I’d avoid using dconf and try and stick with gnome-tweak-tool wherever possible, (that also isn’t available yet - but it’s something I’m interested in adding).
Just to avoid some confusion, although endless is built on top of debian on the backend (which is why you can see apt etc.) we distribute it as a read only ostree. The way to add applications and functionality is via flatpak http://flatpak.org/ . So if you create dconf-editor flatpak then you could use that on Endless.
In my opinion “dconf-editor” is a convenient and flexible product configuration of the operating system configurations.
“gnome-tweak-tool”, is also a great program. Only here it is a pity that the “gnome-tweak-tool” at the moment in the operating system Endless OS DOES NOT WORK.
I understood from the repository and added Flatpak, and set dconf-editor.
1 - DEFAULT SYSTEMS INTERFACE
Here are the settings that I change the operating system itself.
P.S… -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just I want to speak directly to the developers Endless OS. Please add to the system really need serious programs …!
Priority is preferred for graphics processors (eg Shutter), tuner firewall (eg program “gufw”), programs for cleaning system (BleachBit, Ubuntu-Tweak). Program Startup application (gnome-session-properties). And it is desirable for the program backups
Thanks for the detailed reply, that’s very helpful. A number of these items were already on my backlog of open source apps to add as flatpaks, others have been added. I’d welcome and encourage any community members that package apps they need into flatpak to get in touch with us and see if we can help with wider distribution.
