Hello,
I downloaded the Basic file, used qBittorent to process the Torrent ISO file, then used Rufus to flash the file to a bootable USB. When I booted the computer from the USB, the screen just said “Grub”, and that was it. Where did I screw up? Thanks.
UPDATE: I got it going, hitting the Shift key, then tapping the Escape key, after bootup.
I went through the initial setup process, entered name, etc.
The thing I am noticing: the system is as slow as molasses. I click on something, and the system takes a minute or two to respond. I am sorry to put it that bluntly, but that’s just how it is. Maybe I did something wrong, somewhere along the way.
UPDATE #2: I booted up my PC from my USB drive with the 3 GB Endless OS file on it. It took 10 minutes to get to the screen with my name on it. After clicking on my name, it took another 10 minutes to get to the Cave screen with the app icons on it. I double clicked the Chromium icon to open a web browser. Nothing happened. When I went to shut down, it took the OS a full five minutes for my PC to shut down.
This is not normal behaviour, but could be caused by a slow USB disk, or through not using a USB 3.0 capable USB port. You could check those details, and perhaps look for a way of testing the speed of your USB disk.
Thank you, Daniel. The computer was made in 2012, so it is most likely USB 2.0. The USB drive is also probably 2.0. I will get a 3.0 drive and try again.
However, I am also using USB drives with bootable Ubuntu and Linux Mint on this same computer, and they work fine. Thanks again.
