Interresting , I did not know IE was a requirement for the windows installer ?
The installer’s user interface is implemented using Internet Explorer (or rather the HTML control provided by MFC, which is Internet Explorer).
This is not the choice I would make today but it is the choice that was made in 2016, and installer development is paused.
