Laptop freeze after Steam running

When I run Steam on my laptop it’s freeze after 5 seconds. Only hard reboot helps to run laptop again

  1. Open the application called ‘Terminal’
  2. Copy and paste this command into the Terminal application:
flatpak kill com.valvesoftware.Steam
flatpak update --appstream && flatpak update -y
eos-updater-ctl update
flatpak run com.valvesoftware.Steam --reset
flatpak run com.valvesoftware.Steam

didn’t work. Now laptop freezes right after pushing on a Steam icon. ctrl+alt+del doesn’t work only mouse arrow is active

What version of Endless OS are you using?
To check which version of Endless OS you are in Settings :arrow_right: Details

Can you please do:

  1. Open Steam and wait until the freeze
  2. Open the console by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1, then log in with your user
  3. Run eos-diagnostics
  4. Upload the resulting file here after you rebootet your PC with reboot

If you are unable to open a console with step (2) after the freeze:

Open a Terminal and type:

journalctl -f

Then run Steam and watch the output in the Terminal. Make a Photo of this window as soon as the freeze kicks in and upload it here.

There went something wrong  You need to attach the file in this thread, it’s located in your Home Directory and named eos-diagnostic-XXXXX.txt

eos-diagnostic-200223_163812_UTC 0200.txt (1.1 МБ)

by the way I couldn’t reproduce those advices

  1. Open the console by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1, then log in with your user
    didn’t work
If you are unable to open a console with step (2) after the freeze:

Open a Terminal and type:

journalctl -f

it was a “steam login pop up” covered most part of terminal window
and it freezed during password entering so I couldn’t get the screenshot or photo right

I have a guess:

With the latest update, there is a issue with the Nvidia Driver when SecureBoot is enabled - which is in your case. Follow the instructions over in the linked thread to disable secureboot as a temporary solution to get your nvidia graphics card working until the fix gets released.
