Mkv playback issues with different players

Hi,

I installed Endless OS on an old laptop so my son could play around with it. So far he likes it, but from time to time he’s had issues with video playback. Sometimes when he tries to open a video (mkv) nothing happens, and after that when he tries to open any other video nothing happens. After that we installed VLC, but eventually the same thing happened. I still don’t know what could it be, since it seems to be random, and doesn’t happen often.

Any suggestions?

mpv media player is what I use

Ok, thanks for your suggestion. We’ve tried it and it worked for a while, but after some time the same thing happens.
