Permanent MAC address

Dear community,

with my Linux Endless laptop, I would like to have internet access. However, many rooters (including the one in my shared apartment) use MAC address filters for security reasons. Therefore my question: How to change permanently the MAC address of my laptop? I’ve already tried to change it nonpermanently, but not even this worked out (after changing, when querying the address, it would be the same as before).

Thanks in advance

Something that would help us a lot to understand the problem would be this:

  1. Open the application called ‘Terminal’
  2. In this application run the command:

eos-diagnostics

  1. The above command will create a file with the information of your system (example: eos-diagnostic-160614_111731_UTC + 0100.txt); Send us this file so we can analyze and see a possible solution

The file is in the attachment.eos-diagnostic-180328_132247_UTC 0200.txt (711,8 KB)

Settings>Details>Look for updates

Wow, it does work now (at least for the temporary MAC)! How does it come that an update was necessary?
Thanks for the help.

@Osmium_Dresden Although I’m not aware of any intentional change that we have made to MAC management, with ever major release (e.g., Endless 3.2 --> 3.3) we rebase on a newer version of GNOME (e.g., GNOME 3.22 --> GNOME 3.24), which brings lots of bug fixes that have been made in the open source community over the previous year.

Ah ok. It works all fine now.
