Problems running C# code in visual studio

I’m on endless OS (3.5.7) and have installed Visual Studio Code (1.32.3). I’m trying to run hello world program in C# for which i get the following error:

[Running] scriptcs “/sysroot/home/harpreet/Visual Studio/hello.cs”
/bin/sh: scriptcs: command not found

I got a warning that .NET CLI tools are needed which gave me link to this page , the problem is none of the commands listed there can be run on Endless OS.

If any one has solved this issue, please help.
