My instance of Chrome still works despite being uninstalled and the device rebooted. After uninstall by the admin, other users still have access to the icon which launches chrome. If one of these users goes to the app center to uninstall, chrome shows up in the app center as not installed with the option to install via a blue button.
@worldpossible What you describe is exactly as designed. Each user gets Chrome on the desktop by default (because we assume that users of free images will want Chrome for the video codecs rather than Chromium), and by default we try to automatically download Chrome from Google for the first user. When that first user deletes Chrome from the device, that does not impact the icon grid for other users. If the other user clicks on the Chrome icon, we open up the app center to show them how to install Chrome. If the other user is a non-admin user, he/she will need an admin password in order to complete the installation.
So, if that is what you mean by “Chrome still works”, that is the intended behavior. If the Chrome browser launched after uninstalling it, that would be a bug, but one which I cannot reproduce (and I don’t see how that would be possible).
If you’d like a different behavior, you can work with our Solutions team to contract us to develop a custom image build that defaults to Chromium (or to no browser) on the desktop for new users.
