I think your device hit the following bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1872984
Until it get’s fixed, the best would probably to stay at the previous EOS release.

To switch back to your previous installation, do:

  1. Boot with the Shift-Key pressed, it will get you to the bootloader. Select “Advanced” and “3.7.8” (or the one you had before 3.8.0)
  2. Now you are running the previous version, but it will revert back to 3.8.0 on every reboot, so now we need to fix this.
  3. Open a Terminal and type:
sudo ostree admin status

It will show something like:

   eos 51610f7af0cc1d2e0880024e634d00883a0f61bbdf00656f384aa7fb647f5789.0

Copy the hexadecimal string of the line marked with a asteriks to the clipboard, but only the hexadecimal string without anything else. In my case it’s

dd7c0a54a0c6303e7eea425dd4e11cf37ebb99ed55d84881ce8308a950fc28ee

Now run:

sudo ostree admin switch dd7c0a54a0c6303e7eea425dd4e11cf37ebb99ed55d84881ce8308a950fc28ee

This will take some time. When it’s finished, reboot and you’re at the previous release. Don’t update to 3.8.0 again, wait for 3.8.1 before trying it again.

Can you please verify this bug with the EOS engineers and open a internal ticket if applicable.

Its not working

Hi! A ticket about this issue was opened for another user but I will include the log from this user as well. Thanks for notifying!

You mean, WiFi is still not working, even when switching to the previous release? Or is it working and the commands i posted are not working for you?

commands you posted are not working for me.

PLEASE tell me easily how i can back to previous version. Is there any other way?

Hi, unfortunately there is - as far as i know - no other way for permanently rolling back to the previous release.

then why the commands are not working? i did exactly what you said.

What error do you get at what command?

First of all, i cant boot my laptop with shift pressed as you said. There is no change with shift key pressed boot. Please tell me how can i do that.

My laptop is ASUS S530FA.

https://support.endlessm.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003751803-After-an-update-my-computer-does-not-boot-How-do-I-recover-

i can boot my laptop. but cant boot with shift key pressed.

After googling around a little bit, it seems that for some unknown reasons, on some ASUS Notebooks the Shift-Key does not work as expected and you have to use the ESC-Key instead. Try this please and see if that works for you. If, continue with my commands, if not, let us know.

I dont understand what should I do! why there so many bugs in this os! ugh!

after booting with esc key i got previous version of os. then i got connected with WIFI, but i cant do anything!! cant browse, cant surf nothing!!! overall, when i got to app center it says No application found!!!

when i go to google chrome its just loading!!!

at the bottom bar, i got a new sign like mic, i dont know what is this!!!

i did as your command but whenever i power off my notebook again i found the new (faulty) version of os!! it is a matter of exclamatory that, the previous version is also gone faulty!!!

  1. Open the application called ‘Terminal’
  2. In this application run the command:

sudo eos-rollback

  1. Restart the computer

PLEASE tell me why i cant use internet in the previous version 3.7.8, although i have internet connection.

  1. Open the application called ‘Terminal’
  2. In this application run the command:
killall gnome-software
flatpak update --appstream && flatpak update -y

i did it accordingly but no change at all… still i cant use internet. and when i go to terminal at the top it says permission denied! but why?
i command as you said but its again says “permission denied”
