Will Endless OS run Java and wine

I’m running endless Os in one old laptop, and ask myself about add a new content.
Have a possibility to Endless allow to install Java and Wine from tar.gz packages.
Thanks

As @LeandroStanger linked to, the way to install anything on Endless is through Flatpak packages. Endless supplies a number of these in the App Center already.

Currently there are not packages for Java or Wine by themselves, we would usually encourage developers of apps that use them to make Flatpaks of their apps, and include the Java or Wine environment inside of that.

Hi there,

It depends what you want to do with Java. For instance, Firefox in the Endless App Center comes with the Java plugin in order to run legacy Java applets. We also have various apps that use Java in the App Center (e.g. Android Studio and FrostWire).

If you have a JAR that you want to run you can either follow these instructions to use the one built into Endless OS or manually download and install it yourself. Sorry if that all seems a bit complicated but Java is somewhat complicated.

There isn’t currently an easy way to install WINE apps on Endless OS as there isn’t a WINE runtime or means of easily installing the apps using it, sorry. We’d be very happy to integrate any work that the open source community does here to make it easier to run Windows apps on Endless.
