App for MP3 Rip

Hi,

How is the application supported for MP3 Rip function ?

Thanks,

Hi,

Due to patent concerns we aren’t able to distribute MP3 encoders or decoders right now. You might try looking for a third party application to do this. There is the Sound Juicer app from GNOME, but it looks like this isn’t available as a flatpak yet.

A small clarification… We do support MP3 decoding, as its patent has expired. Philip is correct, though, that we don’t support MP3 encoding yet, so that would make it difficult to save files as MP3. We believe that the relevant MP3 encoding patents will expire by the end of 2017, at which point we may be able to ship MP3 encoders. In the meantime, you may want to consider saving your files in a patent-free format such as Ogg Vorbis.
