Beta Release | Endless OS 3.7.7~beta1

The first beta of Endless OS 3.7.7 is out. Please follow these instructions if you want to join the beta testing program; bear in mind that the chance of encountering bugs is higher than in a regular stable release. As always, please ensure your data is backed up!

Updated hardware support

Fixes from the stable branch of the Linux kernel have been integrated into Endless OS, addressing a few security issues that had been discovered recently. Additionally, a previous issue where it was not possible to turn off the keyboard backlight on certain Asus laptops is now fixed.

Other Improvements and Changes

  • Updated Chromium. We’ve updated to Chromium 79.0.3945.130 to bring the latest security fixes to Endless’ built-in web browser.
  • General improvements to the App Center. The App Center has gained a series of small improvements and bug fixes in this version, including a crash fix when some specific apps are installed.
  • Password reset codes now last across reboots. The password-reset feature got improved in this version and reset codes generated by the Login Screen when clicking “Forgot password” (which are then used by our Customer support to provide the unlock codes required to allow resetting passwords) should now remain valid across reboots or until the user next logs in.
