This week we released the first beta of the upcoming 4.0.3 release. Please follow these instructions if you want to join the beta testing program. Bear in mind that the chance of encountering bugs in a beta release is higher than in a regular release – please ensure your data is backed up before updating.
This release brings important security fixes and updates, more corrections to the web safety feature, among others. Here are a few highlights:
-
Network instability caused by the web safety feature was addressed.
-
Endless OS now applies the Google Safe Search policy to the Chromium browser, in addition to Google Chrome.
-
More robust handling of system configuration across updates, preserving modifications that happen after an OS update is downloaded, but before it is installed.
-
Security update for the “pwnkit” vulnerability
We encourage anyone using the Endless OS 4 beta series to update as soon as possible. As a beta tester, you can help by providing feedback on stability and hardware support, and reporting software regressions (things that used to work in previous releases that stopped working on this new release).
