Sound output device isn't remembered, resets on reboot

I have a ThinkPad laptop docked in on a docking station, which is connected to a monitor and a TV. On every reboot, the sound output device gets set to “HDMI / DisplayPort 2”, which I guess is the monitor. It needs to be “HDMI / DisplayPort 3”, which is the TV. So, every single time I start the computer I have to go in and change it. Is there a way I can just set it permanently to 3? Preferably while still letting it switch to internal laptop speakers when undocked.
