Beta Release | Endless OS 3.8.1~beta2

The second beta release of Endless OS 3.8.1 is out. Please follow these instructions if you want to join the beta testing program; bear in mind that the chance of encountering bugs is higher than in a regular stable release. As always, please ensure your data is backed up!

Except where otherwise noted, all release notes for 3.8.1~beta1 still apply.

Improvements and Changes

  • We are now shipping VMWare Guest Tools on Endless OS, which should provide a better experience when running Endless as a guest OS on VMWare.
  • In Endless OS 3.8.0 we accidentally dropped support for selecting a keyboard layout in password dialogs when using a non-latin keyboard, this has now been reinstated.
  • Some other minor bugfixes and improvements.

One issue i noticed is:

  • AppIndicator Icons are not displayed

For example, i have org.nextcloud.Nextcloud installed and running and it should display it’s icon next to th other icons in the tray, but doesn’t:

This worked as expected in 3.7.8, the problem first occured on 3.8
